Cherishing Christmas Memories

Cherishing Christmas Memories

Posted by The Turkey Team on 8th Dec 2020

Like all families, the Copas family Christmas will look different this year. Many months of planning on the farm for covid-style Christmas production means we’re stacked to the rafters with PPE and strict processes to keep our staff and customers safe. At home the Christmas lights have gone up early (but not turned on yet!), the cake is being fed, and the Christmas pud is safely stored. We’re still trying to get a supermarket delivery slot and we’re attempting to buy gifts at our local independent shops where we can. Christmas 2020 is unlike any other.

As we feel the loss of the nativity play, meeting Father Christmas, parties with friends, and carol singers in the street, we’ve been fondly remembering Christmases of the past. We got out the Christmas photo album and remembered all our traditions; Granny insisting on the mistletoe being hung and the Queen’s speech being watched, Grandpa hanging Christmas lights in his special way and inviting all the family over, the kids eagerly waiting for Father Christmas who comes back to visit us a second time on Christmas night.

The repetition of these traditions with the different generations is what makes Christmas every year. This year we’ll repeat what we can and cherish our memories of those we postpone until 2021. Going through these old photos of very special gatherings was a poignant thing to do, and we wanted to share a few with you all.

May you cherish the smaller version of Christmas this year and as you flop on the sofa to ponder your turkey leftovers while watching the covid-style Vicar of Dibley, notice that some things were just the same. Our family and our team at Copas turkeys were here this year, and we’ll be back next year to keep cherishing each Christmas and helping make every Christmas very very special.

Because, one of our customers wisely once said “Christmas simply wouldn’t be Christmas without a Copas Turkey” Alison, Maidenhead.

Flop on the sofa and stay there until New Year
