Creating the Perfect Christmas Cheese Board for Your Festive Table

Creating the Perfect Christmas Cheese Board for Your Festive Table

Posted by Copas Farm Shop on 13th Jun 2025

A festive cheese board at Christmas is a lovely way to bring everyone around the table and just sit and relax whilst chatting and nibbling.

Here on the farm, we take cheese seriously like all our products. Putting together the perfect Christmas cheese board is one of my favourite seasonal rituals. Whether you’re hosting a big gathering or just treating yourself and the family, I’m here to guide you through how to build a cheese board that looks stunning and tastes even better.

Let’s Talk Cheese – Our Exclusive Christmas Selection

A great cheese board starts with great cheese. Ours range at Copas Farm Shop is handpicked with love – a proper mix of creamy, tangy, rich and indulgent.

Here’s what’s included in our exclusive festive selection:

  • Camembert (France) – This beauty has a creamy-white rind and a pale golden centre. It’s plump, smooth and full-flavoured. Pop it in the oven for a warm, gooey centrepiece, or serve at room temperature for a classic French touch.

  • Organic Somerset Cheddar (England) – A proper West Country cheddar, PDO assured and organic too. Moist, tangy and deeply satisfying. It’s one of our bestsellers – and for good reason! (Also available on its own in a generous 1kg portion.)

  • Petit Langres (France) – One for the cheese adventurers. This strong, spicy cheese has a lovely sunken top – perfect for pouring in a splash of Champagne, much like Stilton and port. It’s rich, smooth and seriously luxurious.

  • Sottocenere al Tartufo (Italy) – A showstopper. Marbled with truffle and coated in ash, this cheese is delicately aromatic and melts in the mouth. It’s indulgence in its most elegant form.

  • Cropwell Bishop Stilton (England) – A classic Christmas favourite. Handcrafted, rich and tangy with a velvety texture that melts perfectly on the tongue. We also sell it individually in a 1kg wedge – ideal if it’s a family favourite.

And to round things off? A jar of our Festive Fig Chutney, specially made to complement all these cheeses – sweet, spiced, and just the thing to bring out the best in your board.

Perfect Pairings & Tasty Extras

Once your cheeses are chosen, the fun really begins. Here are my go-to accompaniments to make your board shine:

  • Crackers & Bread: A mix of water biscuits, seedy crackers and slices of baguette or sourdough works wonders. Something crunchy, something soft – a bit of everything.

  • Fruit: Grapes, sliced pears and a few fresh figs (if you can find them) always look beautiful and taste even better. Dried apricots and cranberries add a sweet and festive touch too.

  • Nuts: A scattering of walnuts or almonds brings crunch and earthiness – a great contrast to creamy cheeses.

  • Preserves & Honey: Our fig chutney is included for a reason – it pairs beautifully with blues and cheddars. If you’ve got some runny honey or a dollop of quince paste, pop that on the board too.

  • Charcuterie (if you fancy): A few slices of prosciutto or salami tucked between the cheeses never go amiss. They add a savoury depth that balances the richness of the board perfectly.

A Few Final Touches

Let your cheeses sit out for at least half an hour before serving – they’ll taste far better at room temperature. Arrange everything on a wooden board or slate, add a few festive sprigs of rosemary or holly, and you’ve got yourself a centrepiece to be proud of.

If you’re keen to create your own Christmas board, our exclusive cheese selection is available online and in the shop. Whether you’re gifting it or keeping it for your own table (no judgement here!), it’s a ready-made taste of Christmas.

Pop by the farm shop or order online, and we’ll make sure you’ve got everything you need to make this year’s cheese board your best yet.

Wishing you a delicious, cheesy, and very merry Christmas,
