It's that time of year again... The Poults Have Arrived!
Posted by Copas Farm Shop on 15th Jul 2026
One of my favourite moments in the farming calendar has arrived; this year's poults are now safely settled here at Copas.
However many years I do this, seeing these tiny birds arrive on the farm never loses its magic. It's the beginning of another journey that my family and I have been making for generations, and it always reminds me that Christmas starts long before the decorations go up.
If you've ever wondered where your festive centrepiece begins its life, this is where it all starts. Our poults arrive full of curiosity, spending their first couple of weeks in warm, comfortable pens while they settle in and grow stronger. Before long, we'll remove the fencing and give them the freedom to explore the barns at their own pace, one of my favourite milestones of the season.
Giving every bird the very best start in life has always been at the heart of what we do. We rear our poults slowly and traditionally, with plenty of space, fresh bedding and the time they need to grow naturally. It's a philosophy that has shaped Copas for generations, and one I firmly believe is reflected in the quality of every turkey that leaves our farm.
Over the coming months, my team and I will be caring for the poults every single day, making sure they're happy, healthy and thriving. It's hard work, but it's also incredibly rewarding. Every Christmas, when I hear from families who have gathered around the table to enjoy a Copas turkey, I'm reminded why that care and attention matters so much.
I'll be sharing regular updates from the farm as the season unfolds, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at life here at Copas. From release day, when the poults first explore the barns, through to watching them grow and flourish, I hope you'll enjoy following their journey as much as we enjoy caring for them.

And if you're already thinking ahead to Christmas (it's never too early!), our turkey pre-orders are now open. While Christmas may still feel some way off, our journey to the festive table is already well underway.
Thank you, as always, for supporting our family farm. Your continued support means a great deal to all of us. I look forward to sharing another season with you and taking you on the journey from these first tiny cheeps to the Christmas table.
